HIGH SCHOOL TEAM POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT
In view of the
tremendous interest in the NATIONALLY KNOWN Rebels High School Blue Chip
Basketball Program the Executive Board of the Rebels in 2005 mandated that any
Staten Island player wishing to be considered for a Staten Island Rebels High
School AAU team MUST have played for the Rebel Program for a minimum of three (
3 ) years with this policy to begin filtering in during the 2005/2006 season.
Exceptions to this policy will only be considered for off Island Players and for
players relocating to Staten Island.
For the 2005 season Staten Island
Rebel players with less than three ( 3 ) years with this program will be
considered on a case by case basis under a grandfather rule. Non-Rebel players
may try out for the 2005 teams, however current Staten Island Rebel players will
be given preference. Effective in 2005 exceptions for Staten Island Players will
not be permitted unless specifically authorized by the Program Director. If the
Program Director does not grant the player a waiver, an appeal may be made to
the Board of Directors with a majority vote required to authorize a waiver.
Effective 2006 Rebel players with three years of experience in this program and
off Island players/new residents will ONLY be considered for roster positions in
the SI Rebel HS Blue Chip Program.
A special
tribute to those who were lost in the WTC attack, including members of the
Rebel's family - Firefighter Stephen Siller, Captain John Fischer, and Lt. Paul
Mitchell. Our hearts and prayers are with you and yours. Special
prayers go out to those who are continuing the fight against terrorism and
defend our country
